Photoshop not letting me select text

I just updated photoshop to 2019 20.0 and now the text tool is misbehaving. I see no cursor and I can't select tpe. There is just nothing. I obviously disabled the stupid lorum ipsum nonsense, so when I click with the text tool, there is absolutely no indicatation that anything is happening I have the same problem, but resetting the Type tool does not work for me. I have used the Type tool numerous times before, and it has worked well. For some reason on this file, when I attempt to add text, it appears to be echoing the letters in miniscule text I am using Photoshop CC version 20.0.1. I cannot edit a text layer that has the wrong information. Instead of editing, I tried making a whole new text layer. I click the T (text) button, drag and let go and it shows the latin text but the text box is gone and it won't let me click on it or edit i..
